Leo Cussen Centre for Law congratulates team member Lawyer and Mentor, Desi Vlahos for being named Wellness Advocate of the Year at the recent  Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards. 

These awards are the most prestigious awards in Australia for our industry celebrating excellence and the outstanding women influencing the Australian legal profession. 

Desi has worked tirelessly in creating momentum in mental health for lawyers, barristers, law graduates and students – both locally and internationally. Her wonderful collaboration here at Leo Cussen with our staff and other Mental Health experts, has enabled us to ensure that this important work is accessible throughout the legal profession.

Desi has published many articles on the topic of Wellness in the legal profession including From Languishing to Flourishing and Wellness Tips for Exam Survival Desi recently contributed to the New York Arbitration Week- a leading global seat for international arbitration and a centre for thought leadership and is a member of the International Bar Association- a global voice of the legal profession.  

At Leo Cussen, Desi is a full-time mentor in the blended Practical Legal Training course. With her passion for education, Desi’s focus is in assisting her trainees gain the critical literacy needed for entry into the profession whilst igniting the creativity required for the future of practice. 

Desi VlahosDesi is also a Mental Health First Aid facilitator as part of the Continuing Professional Development.  The 2 x 2.5-hour live-streamed workshop will teach you how to assist a colleague who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
