Director, Education Strategy and Design

 

Donald is a specialist in eLearning, learning design, and digital publishing, with deep expertise across English language assessment (CEFR), the Australian K–12 national curriculum (ACARA), and legal education—including both PLT and CPD.

He has held senior leadership roles in higher education, including Professor of Law at RMIT University’s Graduate School of Business and Law. He also maintains a strong research profile, with numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading Australian and international law journals. Prior to joining the Leo Cussen Centre for Law as Director, Education Strategy & Design, Donald served as Chief Education Officer at the E2 Group, leading the development of the E2Language and other enterprise platform solutions for digital content creation, publishing, and distribution.

Donald’s work has supported a broad range of organisations—from global education and assessment leaders such as IDP/IELTS, Pearson, ETS, Cambridge Assessment and the British Council, to specialist institutions seeking to strengthen digital learning quality and outcomes. He is recognised for combining strategic leadership with practical delivery, and for a sustained commitment to educational innovation and academic excellence.

At Leo Cussen, Donald oversees the design and delivery of PLT and CPD programs. He leads the responsible integration of AI into assessment, curriculum design, and learner support and is helping Leo Cussen build a scalable digital learning ecosystem that better supports professional legal education.
