Ashley is a full-time mentor, working with graduates through their Leo program, helping them develop the knowledge and skills required of an entry-level lawyer (including how to manage the workload and look after their wellbeing) and build self-confidence in their readiness to join the profession.

Before Leo Cussen

Ashley practised as a solicitor, primarily in litigation and dispute resolution, in Adelaide and Hong Kong; taught civil procedure, evidence and advocacy at Adelaide Law School; practised as a Barrister at the Independent Bar in Adelaide; and most recently sat as a Tribunal Member of SACAT and Judicial Registrar of the Magistrates Court of South Australia.

Achievements/Special Interests

Ashley is also a qualified safari guide, through the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa, and has worked as a safari guide in South Africa, Rwanda and Zambia. Despite being stalked by lions and beaten-up by an elephant, Ashley remains passionate about Africa’s wildlife.
