At Leo Cussen

Annette is a Mentor in Practical Legal Training based in Melbourne and is a member of the Family Law topic team.

 

Before Leo Cussen

Annette commenced her legal career working for a small commercial practice before taking some time off to live and travel overseas. Upon her return to Australia she commenced working at a community legal centre in the west of Melbourne where she has spent the majority of her career, commencing as a community lawyer and later becoming a principal lawyer. She brings over 15 years of practice experience assisting priority clients across a broad range of practice areas.

 

Areas of Current Practice

Alongside her work as a mentor at Leo Cussen, Annette continues to work as a director at WEstjustice. Prior to commencing at Leo Cussen, Annette was the Legal Director of the Family Violence and Family Law team.

 

Memberships

Annette is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Western Suburbs Law Association.

Annette is also a member of the Global Alliance for Justice Education.

 

Achievements/Special Interests

From 2020-2021 Annette was a governance group member of the Western Integrated Family Violence Committee (WIFVC), a family violence sector-wide reference group comprising key stakeholders committed to reducing family violence in Melbourne’s West.

Annette also has a special interest in clinical legal education within community legal centres.

Annette continues to enjoy working in the legal assistance sector and hopes to inspire new lawyers to incorporate volunteer work in their future careers.

Annette was also one of the original members of the Melbourne Lawyers Orchestra when it formed in 2015.
