Before Leo Cussen

Angela entered the legal profession after a successful career in music performance and education. After completing her PLT at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law, Angela worked in consumer protection at the Federal Government level, focussing on investigations of alleged breaches of the consumer law and Federal Court litigation. Angela then began practising in criminal law as a solicitor advocate, appearing in all Victorian courts in summary and indicatable matters. This included representing private clients as well as many legally aided clients in contested hearings, bail applications, pleas, appeals, instructing in trials and interlocutory applications as well as appearing in infringements and intervention order matters.

In addition to working in private practice, Angela has also previously worked at Victoria Legal aid in Civil Justice, Access and Equity and has volunteered her expertise to assist vulnerable and disadvantaged clients through community legal centres for several years. These roles saw Angela gain valuable experience assisting and representing clients with complex needs and issues and from linguistic and culturally diverse backgrounds. Angela especially enjoyed encouraging members of the community to help themselves navigate the justice system and has particular interest in court advocacy.

Angela is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and a former member of APRA AMCOS.
