As part of your Practical Legal Training program you are required to complete a professional placement. Complete just 15 days of placement (20 days in WA) and choose to organise your own with support from our team or have us arrange one through our extensive legal network.

Is there any part-time placement options available?
All Leo Cussen organised placements run full-time at the end of your program. If you’d like to complete a part-time placement you can choose to organise your own with support from our team.
When can I do the Leo Cussen organised placement?
Placements are offered during set placement periods. You’ll need to choose a placement period that starts after you finish your PLT program. We aim to offer placement opportunities that begin within four weeks of completing your program.
What locations do you offer placements in?
We’ll arrange a placement for you in the Australian capital city of your choice. If you’d prefer a regional placement, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preference, although we can’t guarantee regional locations.
Who can supervise me during my placement?
Your placement supervisor must be an admitted legal professional who is currently practising law, holds a current practising certificate and has at least three years of post-admission experience. They must also be in good standing with the legal profession. A judge, magistrate or member of an Australian tribunal may also act as your supervisor.
Is there a fee for the Leo Cussen organised placement?
Yes. Leo Cussen organised placement fee is $895.
Can I put this fee on FEE-HELP?
Eligible students can defer the placement fee through FEE-HELP by selecting this option before the census date for their intake.
What if I change my mind after the census date?
If you choose to have Leo Cussen arrange your placement and later decide to find your own, the placement fee can’t be refunded. If you initially choose to arrange your own placement but later ask Leo Cussen to find one for you, we’ll do our best to help but we can’t guarantee a placement. If we’re able to arrange one, you’ll need to pay the placement fee.
