At Leo Cussen

Emma is a Mentor in Practical Legal Training, working with trainees in the online course. As part of her role, Emma teaches in small group sessions with trainees in the intensive foundation skills module at the commencement of the course.

Emma has also acted as an instructor for the CLIP component of the Practical Legal Training course, and as an auditor for the Accounts subject.


Before Leo Cussen

Emma holds a current Victorian Practising Certificate. She is an experienced legal practitioner. Emma undertook articles at the Melbourne office of a large international law firm, and subsequently worked for nearly a decade in the Corporate/Commercial group of that firm, including a stint in its London office and in-house secondments. She also has experience as a Precedents Lawyers in a mid-tier city law firm.

Before becoming a lawyer, Emma worked as a dentist in Melbourne and the United Kingdom.



Emma is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria. She is also a member of the Victorian Music Teachers’ Association and Writers Victoria.


Achievements/Special Interests

Emma has a particular interest in clear writing, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Arts (majoring in writing). She is the author of an article in the Company and Securities Law Journal.

Since her time in legal practice, Emma has enjoyed mentoring junior lawyers. She has a keen interest in legal education, supported by a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Outside of work, Emma is a member of the Arts Centre Melbourne, and regularly attends the ballet and opera.
