At Leo Cussen

Cane has a current Victorian Practising Certificate and is a Lawyer and Mentor in Leo Cussen’s Practical Legal Training course. She has a passion for clinical education and teaches trainees in the intensive foundation skills modules, both onsite and online. Cane also has topic coordination responsibility for Trust and Office accounts and Costing.

 

Before Leo Cussen

Cane has 15 years practicing as a lawyer in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland providing Consumer, Criminal and Family Law advice. She undertook her Articles of Clerkship with Corrs Chambers Westgarth practising in their Workplace Relations group with a focus on OHS, Medical Negligence, Environment and Discrimination Law.
She has a comprehensive understanding of the practical requirements that firms seek in new employees and has trained many junior lawyers and admitted them to practice.
Cane more recently taught law at Victoria University undertaking unit coordination and development of new units in clinical legal education and family law.
She has regularly delivered seminars during Law Week, the LEAP programs, the Australian Law Teachers Association and at the Lawyers Wellness in Law Conference in 2018.

 

Memberships

Cane is a current member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Australasian Law Teachers’ Association and a previous member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the Law Institute of NSW. She was the Treasurer for the Law Society at La Trobe University for 2 years and has been the Treasurer for several community-based committees.
Outside the law, Cane is an avid renovator and passionate organic gardener.
