At Leo Cussen

Rose delivers the face-to-face Practical Legal Training course. She facilitates the foundation skills modules which establish a guiding framework for the tasks undertaken by trainees throughout the PLT course and provides support and mentorship for students in relation to their practice area – specific studies.

 

Before Leo Cussen

Rose is an Australian qualified lawyer with over ten years’ industry experience in which she has travelled a rewarding, but also an unconventional legal career path.

Initially, Rose gained litigation and dispute resolution experience across multiple jurisdictions, as a solicitor at the TAC, Victoria and then at Slater & Gordon, London, UK.

After completing an LLM at UCL in the UK, she joined the global legal management consultancy Janders Dean in London where she advised law firms on transformation initiatives, which aligned to her passion for challenging the status quo and embracing innovative thinking.

When she relocated to Melbourne, Rose was the Manager for LIV Young Lawyers, where she supported the development of YL focused CPD and leadership opportunities.

Rose is passionate about working with the next generation of legal leaders to affect positive cultural change throughout the legal industry. She loves mentoring young legal professionals, whether they are interested in pursuing a conventional or unconventional legal career path.

Rose is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.

 

Achievements/Special Interests

Rose is passionate about empowering young lawyers to feel supported, inspired and brave. In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 lockdown, she spearheaded the YL specific CPD series “Physically distant, professionally close – How Young Lawyers can thrive in a virtual working world, which received the 2020 Law Council of Australia, Australian Young Lawyer Organisation Award.

On the weekends, you will find her at the completing the Albert Park Run and spending time with her Canadian husband, Andrew, and adorable baby, Eddie – we can be easily recognised as the family in matching Toronto Blue Jays baseball kit.
