Joel is a Mentor in Practical Legal Training, working with trainees in the onsite course.


Before Leo Cussen

After admission to the legal profession, Joel worked for several years at international firm Baker & McKenzie. He was called to the NSW Bar in 2005. He is on the roll of practitioners of the NSW and Queensland Supreme Courts and the High Court of Australia. Joel has taught law at Bond University in Queensland, LaTrobe University in Victoria and Curtin University in Perth, and has delivered guest lectures in the UK, US and China. He is currently a sessional lecturer in the Monash University law faculty.




Achievements/Special Interests

Joel’s special professional interests are workplace health and safety law and public law. He taught advocacy for many years.

Outside of work Joel has interests in art history and art law.
