At Leo Cussen

Vicky is a PLT Mentor and topic coordinator of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

Vicky has a special interest in Family Law and over the years at Leo Cussen she has instructed in Family Law, has presented the Family Law Electives, has provided advice in relation to the teaching of the Family Law Program and has updated sections of the Family Law Materials.

 

Before Leo Cussen

After admission, Vicky entered into private practice and later moved on to Victoria Legal Aid, Melbourne, where she became a senior Family Law lawyer, undertook administrative positions and coordinated and mentored the articled clerks and the newly admitted lawyers in the Family Law section. As part of VLA’s outreach services, Vicky established and conducted the Family Law Clinic at the Collingwood Neighbourhood Justice Centre.

Vicky has many years of experience as a Legal Research Assistant at Monash University and continues to be involved in legal research projects. She has been involved in drafting legal submissions and has been published in the Australian Journal of Family Law.

Prior to her role as a PLT mentor, Vicky delivered the Clinical Experience Program for Leo Cussen in conjunction with Victoria Legal Aid for a number of years.

In addition to her role at Leo Cussen, Vicky is a Monash University, Juris Doctor Clinical Experience Supervisor at Monash Oakleigh Legal Service. Also, Vicky guest lecturers in Family Law for the undergraduate and Juris Doctor Family Law courses at Monash University.

Vicky is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.

 

Achievements/Special Interests

Prior to entering the legal profession, Vicky was a secondary school teacher with years of experience as an English and Classical Civilisation subject coordinator, year level coordinator and curriculum development coordinator. Outside the law, Vicky is an avid reader of murder mysteries and British Secret Service spy novels. Vicky has dabbled in the writing of children’s literature and hopes one day to retire by the seaside and write a children’s novel.
